Qualifications
Doug Shields, Jr. provides consulting services in the areas of stream restoration design, hydraulic influence of woody vegetation, large woody debris, streambank erosion, response of fluvial systems to disturbance, and environmental design criteria for river engineering. He has over 45 years of professional experience in environmental and water resources engineering and has authored or co-authored more than 300 technical publications and has made more than 100 technical presentations. He has worked on research or consulting projects in all major regions of the Continental US, with primary experience in the Southeast on physical aspects of streams and rivers, habitat rehabilitation, and water quality.
